A bulb-forming plant from South Africa with the utmost bizarre common name sometimes used of "Frizzle Sizzle," this is an often highly sought after plant and quite uncommonly seen from seeds. Plants form translucent green-white bulbs that can eventually reach almost 4 inches in diameter, from the tops of which shoot numerous grasslike leaves. The leaves are what it's famous for, as if it's grown on the drier and full-sun side like in its natural habitat, the ends curl up in comically corkscrew spiral shapes (if kept wetter which isn't recommended long-term, they may grow straight). Leaves often dry up and wither back during summer during their natural dormancy, though kept moist they may remain year-round. In spring, mature plants will put up stalks bearing up to 3 dozen small green flowers with yellow edges.
Available plants have bulbs between 0.5-1" in diameter, leaves that may be up to 11 inches long (leaves break easily so may arrive detached).
