Often referred to as Giant Angelica or Purple Parsnip, this biennial plant first develops rosettes of heavily dissected, sharp-tipped leaves up to 4 feet across. In its second year it begins forming stems, reaching up to 6 feet tall and is often richly purple-flushed through the stems (though can remain green as well), topped with gigantic 6-inch plus umbels of purple flowers, each cluster containing hundreds of tiny blooms. As it is a monocarpic biennial, when it flowers it will die off, however the seed set usually allows it to re-sow itself (or you can collect the seeds to start plants and move them to new locations).
Available plants are seedlings with rosettes approx. 4-6 inches across.
