The "Indian Birthwort" is a gracile pipevine species from southern India, producing scrambling or climbing vines that can reach more than 20 feet in length (in limited space they can be trained around smaller trellises) and bear many elongate arrowhead-shaped leaves. Mature plants with good light will from the leaf axils produce numerous buds that open up into extremely strange "dutchman's pipe" shaped flowers, with a bulbous hollow base and narrow neck (both pale cream) leading up to the open mouth and a tall tonguelike "hood" shaded rusty purple and covered in tiny hairs to attract pollinating insects.
Available plants are currently seedlings between 2-12 inches in length.
