The much less common, much slower to propagate sister to B. reducta, this is the other tall-growing terrestrial carnivorous bromeliad of northern South America. At a glance the species are nearly identical, but hechtioides tends to be a touch shorter maxing out at around 2 feet tall though usually a bit shorter, with slightly thicker more stocky leaves that splay out more even in strong sun. Full sun lighting will turn them a glowing yellow-green, but they remain bright green otherwise. It tolerates a wide range of conditions but does best in loose open soils in intermediate to highland temperatures and moderately high humidity.
Available plants are semi-mature and approximately 1 foot tall (example in last image)
