Also known by such names as Devil's Trumpet or thorn-apple, this likely Central-American native is a fast-growing annual that forms short bushes of velvety, serrated leaves that will give off a pungent odor when disturbed. Like its larger cousin D. inoxia this form will produce white trumpet-shaped flowers, but tends to be smaller in stature with blooms averaging around 4-6" in length. The flowers are followed by spiky pods filled with black seeds. This is not a plant to be grown around small children or animals that like eating the garden flowers, as it contains powerful hallucinogenic toxins and should not be eaten.
Packets contain approximately 20+ seeds, and need no special treatment to germinate.
