This is the slightly smaller of the two Hawaiian tropical forms of this species; rosettes tend to be around 2.5 inches in diameter, inch and a half tall, with long petioles and teardrop to boat-paddle shaped lamina at the tips that tend to be deep olive green or flushed red under strong light. Short slender stalks bear small white flowers on mature plants, and they self-seed. Individual plants may only live a few seasons, but will occasionally divide or bud from old leaves.
