The true species, from the Hong Kong region of eastern Asia. This species tends to go through two growth forms, one a relatively short rosette of hairy petioles and slender ovular lamina only an inch or two across. The other, particularly in cooler conditions, is a semi-erect rosette up to almost 4 inches across with much more elongate petioles and teardrop shaped lamina. Coloration readily flushes red in strong light, and very thin, wiry flower stalks will bear several large, pale pink blooms with very rounded petals. Does best in cooler, very sunny conditions, but is adaptable.
Packets contain 20-30+ seeds each.
