Often called Chilean Glory Vine, this plant is a delicate perennial in warmer climates, but a fast-growing annual in colder areas. Best planted wherever it's meant to stay as the stems tend to crimp easily, this is a plant that can reach 10 feet tall and with several branches along its length, adorned with delicate, heavily divided fernlike leaves and grasping tendrils at the tip of the leaflet cluster, and the end of each vining branch finishes off with a cluster of some of the oddest little flowers I've encountered. Each starts as a short yellow tubular stalk, which rapidly expands into a balloon-like bright red section, and the tip of which (usually orange in color) may open out or remain pinched closed and often self-pollinates. The exterior of the flowers is also covered in tiny little glands, giving it an odd slimy texure if touched.
Available packets are limited, and have approx. 20 seeds each.
