Commonly known as Yellow or Seep monkeyflower, this annual herbaceous plant is highly variable; this particular locality develops spreading clumps of stems with flat rounded green leaves, topped by spikes of tubular flowers reminiscent of sage or mint blooms but much larger, and brilliant lemon yellow dotted with red inside the mouth of the tube. Plants tend to set seeds readily, and do best in permanently moist locations but not areas with poor lighting or low air circulation as they can also rot easily. Best grown in a rich, slightly acid and damp mix. Packets contain 100+ seeds each.
