A miniature Iris relative native to the southern US and much of South America, this slightly cold-hardy plant will happily grow as a potted tropical as well, forming clumps of thick grass-like leaves up to about 6 inches tall, amongst which are stalks that bear one to several tiny 1-2 inch wide flowers that each may only last half a day, but in number can remain an impressive display for weeks. Flowers have long tongue-shaped light purple falls with a white base spotted in deep violet, surrounding a trio of tiny, equally deep purple standards. They usually self-pollinate and seeds germinate fairly easily with moisture and warmth, and grow in fairly loose sandy soils.
Packets contain approx. 15 seeds each.
