A variant of the Common Mallow, this perennial can grow huge, with stems up to 6 feet tall sporting petiolate, lobed leaves between which short stalks appear that bear the huge 2 inch flowers. Blooms are spectacularly ornamental, a shimmering pinkish violet color. Additionally the entire plant is edible; flowers, leaves, and young fruits can be eaten raw in salads, or all these parts and even the roots can be boiled to extract a sticky mucilage that, when whipped with sugar, can create something akin to the original "marshmallow" candy. Seeds tend to prefer germination in cool conditions, between 50-70 degrees F, but plants will grow anywhere and should be very cold-hardy.
Packets contain approx. 15 seeds each.
