The only surviving plant out of a one-time cross, this has been an unexpected favorite of mine and also now appears to be female to boot. The plant is overall built like gracilis with decurrent slender and short leaves, small pitchers that generally don't exceed 3-4 inches tall, and a propensity to produce basal shoots fairly readily. However, campanulata refines the pitcher shape making it more hourglass-like especially in the upper pitchers, and merrilliana thickens the peristome and gives it a more robust build throughout the plant. Color in pitchers is consistently deep purple-red with a paler mottled interior, only slightly lighter in uppers. This is a lowlander through and through, but will tolerate intermediate conditions.
Available rooted cuttings are just beginning to take off new growth points, with new leaves between 1-3 inches long.
