Lime Basil is another of my top favorite basils, owing to the fact that it lives up to its name (though, ironically, native to Africa and Asia rather than the Americas). Small-leaved but with plants that can reach over 18 inches high before blooming, spiked on top with tiny white flowers. Brushing against them or crushing the leaves releases a powerful citrus-lime and herbal scent that goes incredibly well with salads, soups and grilled foods, or even in syrups to put in desserts and drinks.
