This spectacular butterwort can reach nearly 8 inches in diameter in rare cases (usually between 3-5), with broad oval leaves that can flush beefy red in strong light. Early spring flowers rise up to 8 inches above the plant, each bloom up to almost an inch across with slender, deeply bifurcated petals colored nearly white to rich lavender-pink. Seeds need only be sown on the surface of suitable soil.
