Commonly known as Bladder Campion or Sculpit, This European native may be considered invasive in some parts of the US (so check your banned plant lists for your state!), but when container-grown or in drier regions should pose no issue. Seeds require no special treatment, and plants are cold-hardy perennials with stiff pale green leaves that, when young, can be added to salads, or when older can be cooked as an herb addition to foods. Tall stalks that aren't trimmed to eat will produce one to several strange inflated balloon-like flowers with a green to reticulated purple-veined color and two-lobed white petals at the front.
